SURVIVING A LONG DISTANCE RELATIONSHIP

.

It is hard to make a proximal relationship work, but it is far more difficult for a long distance relationship. All of us know that long distance relationship needs extra effort. Many people believe that this kind of relationship doesn’t work. However, successful long distance relationships can and do exist. It will survive as long as both of you are willing to work it out.
Here are a few simple things you need to consider to make sure you hold on to the man or woman of your dreams.

1. Open your communication. In every long distance relationship, communication is very important. Give each other a call everyday. Or send SMS. Nowadays, there are lots of ways to open up your communication. Use instant messenger program and purchase a webcam for that visual connection. But remember that email and instant messengers can increase the possibility of misunderstanding. Write love letters. Send ecards in every occasion or even without occasions just to let them know you’re thinking of them.

2. Do things together. In a long distance relationship, interaction over phone can be boring in the long run. Thinking of other ways to interact is necessary. You can watch movie together. Pick your fave movies and watch online. You can even buy popcorn so you can feel your watching together on a movie house. You can use this link search and watch movie online: http://www.watch-movies-online.tv/

3. Talk about your future together. If you want to live together, discuss on how you can get to that point. Have goals. Have definite time as to when do you want to be with your partner. It will then help you to prove that your relationship is going somewhere.

4. See each other often. A relationship cannot survive with just phone calls or instant messenger. You have to see your partner in person. Whenever your budget permits or whenever you have a chance, grab it!

5. Be positive. This is the first rule of my boyfriend. Always be positive. Don’t look at the negative aspects of your relationship. Yes, it is hard not seeing your partner but it is not bad at all. You can have time to do your personal things while your partner is away. And you can even use the time that you’re away to beautify yourself. Some couples break up to "find themselves", but in a long distance relationship you both have enough space to do your own things and still have a connection.

6. Give them personal thing of yours so when they miss you, they are able to hold on to something that once belonged to you. This will give happiness, comfort, and the feeling of being with you.

7. Avoid jealousy. Jealousy will destroy trust and the foundation of all good relationships. This is the easiest way to ruin every perfect relationship. This can make you nagger, and demanding of his time. Remember that every person has the right to have social life. Being overly suspicious is unhealthy for you, your partner, and your relationship.

Relationship is a two-way street. Both of you should be willing to take the risk. You should both have the determination to make it work. You've decided to be in that situation, so you better do anything to make it work. Try to make every possible effort from your side. It's commitment that is most important as love may fade away with time, but it's your positive attitude that will keep it alive.
